Daily Challenges 140

Route 140 as part of Grumble Day in a Daily Challenge

Daily Challenges is one of the game modes introduced in Version 2.0. In this mode, players are assigned to drive special or normal routes in various situations. All daily challenges reset at 00:00 UTC / 08:00 HKT. To unlock this game mode, players must be at level 10 or higher.

Each day, there will be either a racing event, a Daily Challenges event, or a combination of both. Upon finishing a shift, players will receive 20 Sunshards. For routes that you haven't unlocked or driven yet, you will be able to drive them in the Daily Challenge. You will also receive a bonus of 5 Sunshards after your first completion, while 15 Sunshards will be awarded after you complete the route on pro mode for the first time.

These should not be confused with the Daily Tasks, which can get rewards by joining the game, driving 30 km in one day, moving at least 350 passengers and completing 3 shifts. However, both will reset at 08:00 HKT / 00:00 UTC.

Racing[]

Every Sunday, there would be a race for players to compete for Sunshards. During Summer Holidays (based on the Hong Kong school calendar), on Saturdays and some weekdays we would also have racing. There are three major types of racing: Rush Hour Rush, Safety First and Grumble Day.

The routes for the racing are RNG-based, which means race is generated by programs. However, the game owner, AddisonShiu, may choose the route for the racing. For example, route 42 on 21 July 2024 was chosen by vote on the Discord server, and route R370 on 7 September 2024, which was for celebrating Sunshine Islands 9 million visits.

Rush Hours Rush[]

Rush Hours Rush is commonly featured on racing days. Players should aim to complete the race in the shortest time possible to win. This race allows the use of Developer Settings to adjust acceleration/deceleration power, or passenger walking speed to shorten driving time.

For Rush Hours Rush, there is a high chance of it being combined with a Daily Challenge Event, such as Urban Odyssey. In that scenario, players need to complete route 77X via Senpai Multi-Story Parking Garage in the least amount of time to win the race.

Safety First[]

Safety First is similar to Rush Hours Rush. The difference is that race counts every dangerous driving offence as a danger points. Players complete the race with the least danger points and time to win the race.

Before August 2024, the use of Developer Settings counts as one danger point. But from 10 August 2024, you will not have any points deducted for using the Developer Settings (unless deceleration power is set to more than 150%, which forces hard stops).

This scenario was removed on 16 August 2024, but later returned on 30 September 2024, with the maximum 150% deceleration power limit removed and lower the event occurring chances as well.

Grumble Day[]

Grumble Day means the race that it is very easy for passengers to complain to the driver on the journey.[1] Players complete the race with the least passenger complaints and time to win the race.

Rewards[]

Sunshards are the only reward of racing. Apart from the 20 Sunshards given upon completion of the race, players may receive an extra amount of Sunshards for racing depending on the ranking. The table below is effective from 27 June 2024.

Ranking Sunshards
1 700
2 - 5 500
6 - 15 300
16 - 30 200
31 - 50 80
>50 20

Racing Calendar[]

There are racing calendars to check the racing days. Racing with Daily Challenges Events also showed.

Daily Challenge Events[]

Other than racing days, there will be one event held. Some of the racing days would be combined with the racing. Like racing, the events and routes are RNG based, which means they are generated by programs.

Some special routes can only be driven in Daily Challenge Events, such as routes R148, 77X. The table below shows the distribution of routes that are mostly chosen for different events.

Trivia[]

  • The Daily Challenge was first showcased at V2.0 trailer, along with new UI, map and other new features in V2.0[2]
  • All private hire trips will be at least 30 km long.
  • Some Daily Challenge events will only have one bus type available for people to drive. This will normally be the case for racing or rare appearance events.
    • Currently, only buses owned by the five Sunshine Islands bus companies will be selected for such Daily Challenges. That means the Hong Kong-based buses and Blocky Basic is excluded.
  • During challenges such as Street Light Outage and Concert Overrun, the route will generally be extremely late at night or extremely early in the morning, causing the scene to be very dark. In this case, it is recommended that you use a high-specification device with a good processor and RAM and high Roblox graphics mode, to stop the lights from lagging, making it easier to see when it is dark.
    • In the past, players could cheat in Street Light Outage challenges, by increasing the graphics brightness (through custom atmosphere setting) to circumvent the effect of having no street lights. This has now been patched.

Notes[]

  1. Passengers will complain to the driver for speeding (+70 km/h), accelerating or decelerating for a long time, driving when passengers are walking to the seat, driving at a high speed when passengers are walking to the exit, not aligning the door to the stop, changing the acceleration or deceleration power in the settings, and other normal complaints.
