This route serves employees of CSB who live in the eastern part of Zone 4 (Southern, Eastmallow and Norton) that start/end their shifts outside of regular bus route hours, allowing them to commute to/from work.

- Along with routes C01 and C401A, these routes are the first to be operated exclusively for staff of a bus company.
- This route and C401A are the only non-franchised inter-zone routes. As a result, this service number is also one of the two inter-zone routes not to follow the bus route numbering conventions aside from scheduled Private Hire trips.
- This route is also one of the few inter-zone routes that operated by a single company. The others are routes 140, 140P, 360, 462, 670 and C401A.
- Forever Transit and REBC buses have external LED display data for this route, while the external LED displays on CSB buses will show "Crew Bus".
