Usage Status[]

Since Zone 6 is small, the demand for bus transport between Zone 4 and Zone 6 is not high, therefore the level of passengers is low outside of rush hours, while patronage during rush hours is also moderate only. Prior to July 25, 2020, most passengers would ride from Zone 7 Interchange to Zone 4 (where it would be easier to board, as opposed to the more crowded Zone 4-Zone 7 routes) on trips to Norton while trips towards Horizon Depot, which never stopped at Zone 7 Interchange would have low ridership, with a service break between 9:00-10:00 am prior to service reduction. In addition, when the route operated as a full day service, departures ended at 9:00 pm and late night travel would require a transfer from a Zone 4-Zone 7 route to route 670 and vice versa.

As a result, unlike other bus companies in the Islands, Horizon did not have to invest in larger double deck buses until recently and kept a small amount of such buses in service. It also did not have to deal with extremely heavy passenger loads on this route and consequently, Horizon plans to restrict this route to its single deck buses in the future.

With trips towards Norton now bypassing Zone 7 Interchange, demand has subsequently decreased with traffic from Zone 7 being accommodated on other routes. As a result, service has been reduced to 3 trips to Norton during morning rush hour and 3 trips in the evening to Horizon Depot, with buses going out of service upon reaching the terminal. Outside of peak hours, passengers travelling between Zone 4 and Horizon Island must take the Sunshine Islands Metro or routes 472, 473, 475, 475A or 476 and transfer at Zone 7 Interchange for route 670 or 673. Furthermore, as buses on this route bypass Sunshine Station and Central Hospital with the revamp of the Southern Interchange, demand has subsequently decreased (as travel to these stops requires taking routes 670/673 and 472/476).

Currently, service on this route is suspended due to the Horizon Island revamp, as well as a lack of passengers.

Trivia[]

  • The official website and the bus route sign tell us that this bus route must not stop in Norton Ferry Pier, but the guide in the game tell us that this bus route must stop there. Buses may still stop there to drop off passengers if requested. This issue will be fixed once the Horizon Island revamp is complete.
  • This route is one of the primary reasons why Horizon Group mostly ran single deck buses in Version 1 of the Sunshine Islands, which will likely change after Horizon Island reopens.
