Inter-zone route 142 is operated by Roblox Express Bus Company and FT Central Connect, travelling between Dove Estate and Sunshine Pier.
This route and route 21 are the first two routes operated by REBC in Sunshine Islands and are also the first two Zone 1 routes.
History[]
- On 4 August 2018, 142 started its service. At first it operated between Dove Estate and Southern Central.
- On 12 November 2019, route modified, this route now stops at Johnson Market instead of Johnson Garden for both directions.
- On 9 December 2019, changes in bus stops within Central District:
- For Southern Central bound journeys, the location of Southern Two stop has changed.
- For Dove Estate bound journeys, added the Langford Place bus stop while the Southern Two bus stop is cancelled.
- On 20 December 2019, the Zone 4 terminus was changed. Route extended from Southern Central to Sunshine Station.
- On 13 January 2022, Sunshine Square was removed.
- On 1 June 2024, Sunshine Express quitted the operation of this route, replaced by Sunshine Islands Bus. Zone 4 terminus has been extended to Sunshine Pier;
- Southern One and Government Offices were cancelled for both bounds.
- To Sunshine Pier: Red Wall Road was added.
- To Dove Estate: Museum Infinite and Northern Plaza was added.
- Both bounds: Southern Cultural District Park and Leafy-Central Tunnel Administration Block were added.
- HSBC Headquarters was renamed to Maple Lane.
- Special departure via High Court has been cancelled.
- Southern One and Government Offices were cancelled for both bounds.
- On 29 June 2024, FT Central Connect replaced SIB, maintaining operations on this route with REBC.

Special arrangement during Sunshine Islands Marathon[]
When the Marathon is held, the eastbound routing remains normal, but the westbound routing goes via the Central - Western Bridge instead of the Western Harbour Tunnel with an additional stop at Shopping Corridor, the route changes to a circular basis, and the route is renumbered to route 242.
An automated announcement will be made after Sunshine Pier informing passengers about the diversion.
Usage Status[]
Route 142 provides a direct service between Dove Island and Central, which reaches the heart of the business district in both zones. The level of usage of this route for both directions is extremely high during rush hours, making it one of the busiest in the Islands.
The major demand for this route is from commuters heading towards the business districts in Central and Dove Island. It is common that the bus is already full when it departs from the Dove Estate bus terminal when heading to Central and Sunshine Station (during peak hours) as there is a great amount of commuters in Dove Estate. Buses are also commonly found to be full when departing Northern Interchange towards Dove Estate, because there is a great amount of interchanging commuters coming from Eastmallow Estate that board there, mainly for Timelapse Mall. Outside of rush hours, this route sees a fair amount of passengers as there is not as much travel between business districts.
As a result of high ridership, Roblox Express Bus Company operates 12.8 m Alexander Dennis Enviro500 MMCs on this route, especially during peak hours and the route is mostly done with double deck buses. As the route requires the biggest buses possible, REBC originally assigned 13.7 m MAN Lion's City L single deck buses, which were replaced with the current Enviro500 MMCs when their counterparts could not keep up.
Ridership, however, has started to dwindle for cross-harbour traffic with the opening of the Sunshine Islands Metro, with many passengers boarding the bus at Timelapse Mall on trips towards Dove Estate (as it shares routing with route 21), with transfers to the Metro also taking place at Timelapse on trips towards Sunshine Pier. However, passengers may often board at stops in Zone 4 as well due to it sharing routing with route 42.
